HMAS Sydney Search Pty Ltd as Trustee for the Finding Sydney Foundation and the Naval Association of Australia wish to permanently commemorate the crew of HMAS Sydney (II), by the establishment of a web based ‘Virtual Memorial’ to enable families to contribute their stories about the men they lost so tragically on the .

The Naval Association of Australia will own and manage this Virtual Memorial into perpetuity and invites families and friends to freely submit content for publication.

THE Finding Sydney Foundation

HMAS Sydney Search Pty Ltd was formed as a not-for-profit company in . In it was appointed Trustee for the Finding Sydney Foundation. Its objectives were to find the wrecks of HMAS Sydney (II) and the German raider HSK Kormoran off the Western Australian coast and to commemorate the crew members killed.

As history has shown the Finding Sydney Foundation completed the first objective in and subsequently investigated both ships using a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). All reports, survey information and photographs, both stills and video of the search have been handed over to the Commonwealth Government and the Western Australian Museum.

Naval Association of Australia

The Naval Association of Australia began its life in as the Ex-Navalmen's Association and is the premier ex-service organisation outside of Navy looking to the interests of both serving and ex naval members. It embraces all ranks and both men and women. Its motto is Once Navy Always Navy.

Its principal objectives are to unite and develop friendship among all former and serving naval personnel eligible for membership, and to promote and assist activities in the wider community to improve health and well being of the community of which former and serving naval personnel are a part.

The Naval Association is not just a social club, although mateship is at the core of its ethos, but a dynamic and contemporary organisation supporting the naval family.
